The association organises a biennial competition to recognise the best doctoral and undergraduate theses on women’s history and gender studies. A panel of judges comprising renowned female researchers in this field will select one thesis from the entries in each category on the basis of its merit in terms of the contribution it makes to the field of Women’s History and/or Gender Studies. Theses from Argentine public universities across various disciplines within the social sciences and humanities are accepted, provided they make a substantial contribution to Women’s History and/or Gender Studies. We have now held four editions, and a number of books have been published in both digital and print formats. The results of the fifth edition will be announced in the coming months.
The association carries out various activities in which members participate voluntarily, forming working committees such as those on Human Rights, Sexual Education, Thesis Prizes, Publishing and Communication, among others.
We also offer support and professional development through our Writing Groups, virtual spaces for mutual support dedicated to one of the core activities of our work as researchers: writing.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, AAIHMEG, in partnership with grassroots feminist organizations, created an online forum called “Asamblea de trabajadoras en tiempos de pandemia” (women workers amid the pandemic) This forum provided a much-needed space to share experiences, offer mutual support, and spearhead ideas for political action even in that extremely difficult context. In recent years, we have organized virtual and in-person activities and workshops on topical issues (labour rights, human rights, education, feminist economics, amongst others). The association also works with trade unions to organise training sessions on the prevention and management of workplace violence and gender-based violence in the world of work.
